Day 20: Stanley

“We Go Again!”
– Steven Gerrard, Post-Match Hurdle, Liverpool vs Manchester City, 2013/2014 season

Great Start

I looked at all the expenses and liabilities I have for 2017, and the most important financial question I kept asking myself for days, stepping in 2017, was, “how am I going to earn this much?”

But just as it was in 2016, the first income I earned this year came in early. Then another, and another… I asked God, “Who am that you provide for me so? My commitment to you is weak.” You’re indeed a great provider.

Becoming a Chartered Marketer

I’ve been able to pay for my integrated communications assessment tuition. After failing the module last year, I’m giving it another go. I know the same God will provide the assessment fee of £120.

The objective is to get a distinction in both the integrated communications and digital marketing modules. I will give my all to make sure I achieve this, with the help of the Holy Spirit.

Financial Independence

I started the year with a spread sheet for my ‘financials:” expenses for the last 6 months, budget for 2017, debts, assets, and projected income. My finances is one major area of my life I want to improve on this year. I think she’s part of the motivation for this.

Finally applied for an international passport 6 weeks ago. I had expected to get it in a few days, but due to the unavailability of passport booklets, this hasn’t been possible (can you imagine? Smh).

The first time I tried to get a passport was 7 years ago. I naively trusted a tout and gave him money for it. Nah so my ₦10,000 initial deposit enter voice mail.

I can’t wait to visit locations outside Nigeria and experience different things. That is one thing I really want to do this year. Plus, adding to the list of tourist attractions I have visited in Nigeria. Erin Ijesha Waterfalls and Badagry Slave Habour are on my list.

I don’t want to set a spiritual goal. Perhaps it’s because I do it almost every year and I don’t feel like I’m getting any closer to Him. I do know what I want in my heart. And I’ll keep working on a better relationship with Him.

“Go and Marry”

Like play like play, I’ve left my mid-30s. It would be nice to start a family soon, but I’m not under pressure. And there are so many things I’m working on, so that takes my attention.

It Gets Better

I feel like I have been given a lot, and it’s all mine to lose or build on.

My current state of mind in 2017 is to build on everything I have gotten so far. The foundation is now there; it’s not the strongest, but I can say with confidence that it’s there.

I want to earn the most money I have ever earned this year. But I also have to be careful not to take on too much work than I have the capacity to handle.

With our new company, CredentWest Solutions, now incorporated, it’s going to require a lot of hard work keeping our promise to shareholders that the shares they bought at ₦2.50 will appreciate to ₦3.92 after the first financial year.

It will require a lot of hard work. But I wouldn’t want it any other way.
